Annual Excursion (Secondary) 2023

Our secondary students embarked on a captivating educational adventure to Nelligala, a breathtaking haven nestled amidst the vibrant landscapes of Sri Lanka. It was here that they discovered the ethereal beauty of one of the country’s most revered Buddhist temples.

As they stepped foot on the hallowed grounds, their spirits were uplifted by the serene aura that enveloped Nelligala. The temple’s magnificent architecture stood as a testament to the rich heritage and profound spirituality that permeated every corner. The students marveled at the intricate details adorning the walls, each telling a story of ancient wisdom and profound enlightenment.

Leaving the temple behind, the journey took them to the enchanting Saradiel Village. Nestled in the heart of the Mawanella area, this rural oasis captured the essence of a bygone era. Its very existence was a living tribute to the legendary figure, Sura Saradiel, who once graced this land with his presence.

In the embrace of nature’s bounty, the students experienced the simplicity and charm of village life. They reveled in the warm hospitality of the villagers, who shared tales of courage, resilience, and the indomitable spirit that defined Sura Saradiel. The village whispered secrets of a time long gone, as if preserving them for curious souls like our students.
The air was alive with the harmonious melodies of the past, as the students immersed themselves in the cultural tapestry woven by the villagers. Every corner revealed a hidden gem—a story, a craft, or a tradition passed down through generations. The students’ hearts danced to the rhythm of the village, their spirits entwined with the timeless wisdom that resided within its humble embrace.

As they bid farewell to this extraordinary excursion, our students carried with them not only cherished memories but also a deep appreciation for the magnificence of Nelligala and the poignant tribute that is Saradiel Village. Their journey had awakened their souls, leaving an indelible mark of reverence for the beauty of nature, the power of spirituality, and the enduring legacy of those who came before us.
